Revitalize Portland encourages all our members to reach out to your elected representatives in Salem TODAY!

UPDATED: Legislature holding Public Hearing

Monday, 2/26 @ 5pm

As described in media reports from OPB & the Oregonian, a deal is close at hand in Salem on revisions to Measure 110 which will include stffer criminal penalties for drug possession. The bipartisan compromise is supported by local governments & law enforcement and includes elements long called for by our Crime & Safety Committee.

The bill could be heard as EARLY as TOMORROW (Friday, 2/22/24) so we encourage ALL our members, your companies, & your organizations to tell the legislature:

Whatever package is ultimately approved, RPC believes the legislature must take steps to:

  1. Recriminalize hard drugs,

  2. Restore accountability by incorporating pathways to treatment as part of the criminal process, &

  3. Expand access to local drug treatment

Tragically, Oregon's number of fentanyl overdose deaths is highest in the USA. Since 2019, that is a 1,526% increase in deaths - a jaw-dropping statistic representing the lives of 12,000 Oregonians. Look up your legislators here. Search by your address & you'll get the email & phone number for your representatives in Salem. We encourage you to both call and email them today. Then, take a moment to share this with your colleagues, friends & family!

State lawmakers need to hear directly from Oregonians that we expect them to take strong action NOW!
